Obituary of Daley Edward Melanson

Daley Edward Melanson, 79 of Plympton, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2022 in the Digby General Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Born August 12, 1943, he was the son of the late Hartford and Jessie (Amero) Melanson.

Daley was a scallop fisherman in his younger years where he worked on the Lady Acadian and the Lady Francine. He was also a person who loved to plant a garden and he also enjoyed rabbit and deer hunting. Daley was also a former ten-year member of the Plympton and Gilberts Cove Fire Department, which he took great pride in; he loved every minute of it.

Daley was a loving father and grandfather

Daley is survived by his children, Eric (Carrie), Yarmouth; Tracey, Plympton; James (Shawna), Barton; step-sons, Julien (Nicole); Alain (Louise); step-grandchildren, Simon; Rachelle; Nicole; Cory; Aerith; and granddaughter, Kira, who was her grandfather's pride and joy; sister, Diane Balser; brothers, Clyde; Junior; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Daley was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dorothy (Gennette); sisters, Ruby and Geogina; brothers, Floyd, Ronald, Eldridge, and Jim.

Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Plympton Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
