Often wondered how you were When I read your obituary I was so happy to read you had a happy loving life. I know how much your Mom loved you back then and always loved you. I will never forget cutting your hair when you were younger. You became a handsome young man and full of life but I didn’t see you in later years but will never forget the impression you left with me

I worked with Darren only for a short while, but he certainly was a charming man. even though he didn't have words you could always tell when he enjoyed music, being lovingly teased by staff, or going for outings to shop for new clothes. Darren's passing will be felt by a lot of people and a hole will be left with the QASL Team. Thinking of Darren's family during this time.

To all of Darren’s family;
I’m sorry to hear of Darren’s passing and so glad he got to live a full life knowing he was very loved.
I got to know him very well in the years I cared for him at Queen St., as he grew from a cute teen to a handsome young man.
We had some great times with lots of smiles and laughs.
There were also several times he showed how tough and strong he was.
Oh how he loved listening to Anne Murray and one of my favourite memories is the day he met her. He was first in a very long line of people waiting. When Anne spoke to him he grinned and when he realized she was really there his face lit up as he did his happy yell.
Thank you for trusting me to take care of Darren and the opportunity to share in special memories with him.
I’m sure he’s looking down on us all as he runs around causing mischief every chance he gets.
God’s peace and comfort be with you all. Love Cindy.

Susan and Family. We are so sad that Darren is no longer with us. We have known him since he first moved to Queen Street when he and Steven were young teenagers. He and Steven had a bond that was obvious to everyone around them. They understood each other’s language. Steven’s move to Stone Hill happened so quickly and now we know what a blessing it was. The guys got to spend the last week together. Darren will not be forgotten by our family as he and our son were best of friends for a very long time. Cherish your memories. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time.

I feel so privileged to have been a part of Darren's life as a casual counsellor at both Queen Street and later at Stone Hill. His love for Anne Murray did not waiver over the years and I will forever think of Darren when I hear her sing. You will be missed Darren but never forgotten .

Oh my,,, Precious Darren!!! I also had the privilege of welcoming you to your home on Queen street and working with you. I remember that mischievous look in your eye and turn of your head and your laughter. Sweet memories and always hard to say goodbye. You deserve to rest and I will NEVER forgot the 5 yrs we were family.

Darren was one of the first residents I ever had the pleasure to work with when I first started my career almost 30 yrs ago. I will forever remember and treasure the sound of his laughter and grumblings when he wanted to give you a bit of a hard time. He had a great sense of humor and really got when us old staff now used to joke and tease him. I can never forget the drives we would go on and how he enjoyed driving through the tunnel in Brooklyn hooting and hollering the whole time. And cant forget the speed bumps at White Point. Another long time favorite of his. Ill miss you forever. ❤️❤️❤️

Darren and I shared our ‘first day’ at Stone Hill and because of this he always held a special place in my heart. We bonded over both being overwhelmed in a new environment, and I was glad to have him as a partner in that journey. He had a great sense of humour and the best belly laugh. Darren will be missed by all who knew him. My thoughts are with everyone at this time
