Obituary of Treca Fern Johnstone

Treca Fern (O’Hara) Johnstone, 75, of Kentville, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on December 12, 2022. Born March 25, 1947 in Berwick, she was daughter of the late Cecil and Edith (Hudgins) O’Hara.

 

Treca dedicated a large part of her life to her family. She loved travelling with her husband Lewis, playing darts, crib, and going to the dances. Treca was a member of the Branch #6 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kentville, where she served many years on the Ladies Auxiliary and received her 40-year membership pin. Treca loved to meet & chat with everyone at local jam sessions which she attended with her sister & best friend, Heather. She had a deep loving bond with her great-grandchildren whom she would play hard with. 

Treca is survived by sons, Lewis Jr. (Chantal) of Bear Island, NB; Vincent of Kentville; daughter, Shelley (Daren) Hiltz of Glenmont; granddaughters, Aleesha and Amanda Johnstone, Danielle Salsman, Madison Johnstone, and Kelcey (Jacob) Pearson; grandson, Cody (Kaileigh Smith) Hiltz; great-grandchildren, Abel, Jedd, Bentley, and Gabriella; sisters, Lillian O’Hara and Pauline Synard both of Ontario, and Heather (Dave) Elliot of Kentville; brother, Wayne O’Hara of Ontario; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Treca was predeceased by loving husband of 54-years, Lewis Sr.; sister, Charlotte (Murphy) Tanner; and brother, Elwin O’Hara.

 

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 1:00 pm in Branch #6 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kentville, with a reception to follow. Memorial donations may be made to the Kentville Lions Club, Diabetes Canada, NS Heart & Stroke Foundation, or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
