Obituary of Ella Marie Strickland

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ella Marie Strickland, on December 24, 2022, at the age of 76, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in New Ross, Ella was the daughter of the late Vincent and Daisy (Jollymore) Pye. Ella will be remembered for her sense of humor, vibrant smile, contagious laugh, and her undying love for her family.

Left behind with a heart full of memories is her husband, Arthur "Tim"; daughter, Angie (Don) Veinott, New Ross; son, Kevin Wheaton, NWT; brothers, Alva (Bev) Pye, Kingston, Emery (Janet) Pye, Coldbrook, Glen (Janice) Pye, New Ross, Blake Pye, New Ross, and Brian Pye, New Ross; sisters, Janet (Leslie) Mason, Indian Path, Nancy Robinson, Sudbury, ON, Ola (Tim) Melanson, Estevan, SK, and Susan Leopold, New Ross; grandchildren, Makayla, Shyla, Jake, Nicholas, Nicole; as well as great-grandchildren, Timothy and Aurora; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ella was predeceased by her brothers, Wayne, Bobby, and Biff; and sister, Leona Swinimer.

A private family only visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, in the New Ross Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the Christ Anglican Church, New Ross, Archdeacon Tom Henderson officiating. Immediately following a reception will be held at the New Ross Canadian Legion Branch # 79. Interment will take place in the Anglican Church Cemetery, New Ross at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Nova Scotia.
