Obituary of John Edward Comstock Jr.
John Edward Comstock Jr., 78, Halifax, passed away peacefully in QEII Hospital on January 8th, 2023. Son of the late Mary Agnes and John Edward Comstock Sr., John was a kind soul and always there for his family and friends, providing support and guidance whenever needed. He was a great listener to many friends and helped numerous fellow AA Members throughout the 50+ years of membership. John was a gifted woodworker, artist and had a passion for photography and could be found in his younger years selling his art work at the Halifax Waterfront or at the Public Gardens.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Jamie-Lynn Gillis (Jeff); son, Tommy; brothers, Ron Comstock, Andy (Nancy - deceased) Comstock, Pat (Sharron) Comstock, and Phil (Holly) Comstock; sisters, Marjorie (Reno) Favretto, Marie (Boyd) Algee, Pauline (Ron - deceased) Murray, Gloria (David - deceased) Langille-Hennigar, Deborah (Jared) Comstock-Wilcox, Brenda (Jeff - deceased) Comstock-Thomson, and Christine (Glen) Porter; grandchildren, Jenna, Nathan, Emma and Julia; many nieces and nephews, as well as special friends Heather and Debbie. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by Laurie (Joyce) Comstock and Don (Joan) Comstock.
Funeral mass will be held 11 am on Friday, January 20, 2023, in St. Theresa’s Church, Halifax, Bishop Martin Currie officiating. Reception to follow. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville (family only). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
