Obituary of Eva Margaret Hiltz

Eva Margaret Hiltz (Keddy), age 92 of Fraxville/New Ross, passed away on January 11, 2023, with her family by her side, in Shoreham Village. She was the daughter of the late Emerson S. and Mary L. Keddy.

Eva was a member of St. Augustine Of Hippo Church for many years. She enjoyed making wreaths, knitting, sewing, haying, and baking homemade bread. She always had lots of people around and no one went home with an empty belly.  Eva loved to carry on and laugh with her family.  She also enjoyed watching the horses and cattle graze in the fields and letting her beloved cats sleep with her.  There were many nights that the knuckles hit the table playing cards, as well.

Eva will be deeply missed by children, Pat Cook (Otis), Jo Veinot, and Carson Hiltz (Val), all of New Ross; grandchildren, Steven Cook (Jen), Tammie Cook (Clifford), Wayne Veinot, David Veinot (Jen), Allyson Hiltz, Michaela Hiltz (Sam); great-grandchildren, Lawson, Faith, Jade, Saege, Ava, Liam, and Jaida; sisters, Goldie and Velma

In addition to her parents, Eva was predeceased by her husband, Carl Hiltz; brothers, Reuben, Harry, Heb, and Norman; and sisters, Effie, Vera, Rosalie, Leona, Iona, and Gladys; and son-in-law, Ian Veinot.

A special thank you to Home Care for years prior to nursing home and the staff of Shoreham Village for giving Eva their loving care.

A visitation will take place on Friday, January 20, 2023, 6:30 – 8:30 pm in the New Ross Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the St. Augustine of Hippo Anglican Church, New Ross, Father Tom Henderson officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Augustine Cemetery on June 16, 2023 at 3 pm. Memorial donations, in Eva’s memory, may be made to the New Ross Volunteer Fire Department (902-689-2422) or the St. Augustine of Hippo Anglican Church and St. Augustine Cemetery (1587 Forties Rd., New Ross, NS B0J 2M0). Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home New Ross Funeral Chapel, 4935 Hwy #12, New Ross, B0J 2M0 (902-689-2961).
