Lorne Edwin Isnor Obituary

"When all t'world goes one road, I go t'other" - James Herriot

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Lorne Edwin Isnor. Dad left peacefully while at home in Hammonds Plains, on January 22, 2023. He was 79. Born in Halifax, with a large love for music and instruments, he spoke often of his memories of listening to his father play piano. Lorne taught himself to play guitar at an early age and had a great ear for most other instruments. He spent decades playing professionally and became well known for his talents and for his love of song.

Lorne’s career in the elevator industry was full of commitment and hard work. He was a valued and active member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors from 1969 to 2003. After retirement, he enjoyed woodworking, general tinkering in his workshop and of course, guitar. His love of humour and stories remained as he cherished listening to James Herriot's TV show and audio books of "All Creatures Great and Small". Dad lived and loved as unapologetically himself.

Lorne is survived by the love of his life, Linda (Davis) and 2023 would have marked 55 years of marriage. He made no secret of his adoration for his wife. He is also survived by his two daughters, Lea lsnor and Angie lsnor; and son-in-law, Scott Pitts; also by his dearly loved only grandson, Joshua Knight. He leaves behind a loved brother, Milt lsnor; and a treasured cousin, Scott (Ruth) Brigley.

Lorne was predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Mildred (Brigley) lsnor. He's strumming for them now.

In keeping with Lorne's wishes there will be no public service. Any wishes to honor Lorne may be done through donation to Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB). Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
