Obituary of Merna Orene Kelley
Merna Orene Kelley (Leopold) passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023 at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow. Merna was born in Leminster on May 8, 1930.
Merna’s ambitious and adventurous spirit brought her on numerous travels and she lived in many different Canadian provinces. She was an independent, creative woman who was blessed with many talents. She was particularly skilled at creating different forms of art and excelled at gardening, quilting, sewing, knitting, cooking & baking. With failing eyesight and being a true Bluenoser, Merna returned to Nova Scotia in her retirement years to live closer to her son, Barry.
Merna will be remembered by her son, Bruce (Myrna); daughters, Bonny and Brenda; and daughter-in-law, Cathy. Nanny will also be remembered by her grandchildren, Kristin, Brad, Jennifer, Allison, Alexis, Shannon, and Mitchell; and great-grandsons, Gavin, Jackson, and Reilly; as well as by her sister, Ella; and brother, Jeffrey.
Merna was predeceased by son, Barry, in 2022; and brothers, Harley and Chesley.
Thank you to the staff on the 4th floor and palliative care units at the Aberdeen Hospital for the compassionate care they provided.
A special thank you to Cathy for her unending support and kindness given to Mom.
