Obituary of Betty Eileen Johnson

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Betty Eileen Johnson, age 72 of Auburn, passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 9, 2023, in the Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville.

Betty graduated from Kings Vocational School in 1970, and returned to Compu College in 2003 to obtain a diploma in Business Administration.  She was a member of the St. Thomas Baptist Church. She had a passion for the arts including painting, drawing, and carving; and made many amazing costumes for her children and grandchildren over the years. Betty loved music from soul to blues, her feet would always be moving. Betty was a kind compassionate woman, spending many years educating special needs children in the Dartmouth and Halifax area. She helped raise her step-son, Corey, and adopted everyone her children brought home to meet.  She loved to go on “great adventures”, dragging anyone who was willing to go with her, this included quality time with Mary Jane.

“Mom, we know you are dancing up there the same way you did in the kitchen. We will miss your honesty and not knowing what will come out of your mouth next! Thank you for your infectious laughter and the fond memories that will live in our hearts forever.”

Betty is survived by husband, Everett; sons, Jason Stevens (Heather), Matthew Stevens, and Corey Johnson (Colleen); daughter, Michelle (Jim) Carey-Wile; grandchildren, Shafique, Victoria, Matthew, Brittani, Chelsea, Austin, Tristen, and Mackenzie; great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Vanessa, and River; brother, Ronnie Harris; and sisters, Linda Keddy, Judi Burrill, and Nancy (Brian) Boddy.

Betty was predeceased by Frank and Valera Harris; parents, Allison and Marguerite (Garnett) Harris; and brother, John Harris.

Thank you to the staff at Evergreen for the compassionate care they provided to Betty and thank you to Paul at the Evergreen for playing the blues on his guitar for her.
