Allister Wayne Rowter Obituary

Allister “Wayne” Rowter, age 80 of Maitland Bridge, Annapolis County, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Born in Maitland Bridge on September 1, 1942, he was the son of Ainsley Augustus Rowter and Alma (Fancy) (Rowter) Wamboldt.


Wayne left high school to attend trade school and became a journeyman bricklayer. Wayne was self-employed most of his life, performing masonry work until the early 90's. He then started a firewood business, delivering firewood all over the South Shore. Wayne also helped run the M & W Restaurant & Store with his loving wife Marilyn. Wayne loved to spend his winters in Florida.


Wayne is survived by son, Dwayne (Janice) Rowter, Tantallon; grandchildren, Caitlin (Nick) Ivory, Tantallon; Travis Rowter, Hackett's Cove; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Marilyn Ivory, Tantallon; brother, Richard (Carol) Rowter, Sydney.


In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn; and son, Gerry.


Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and burial will be at a later date. Donations may be made to the North Queens Fire Association, 9793 Nova Scotia Trunk 8, Caledonia, NS BOT 1BO. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Digby County Funeral Chapel, 367 Highway #303, Digby, NS B0V 1A0 (902-245-2444).
