Obituary of Jean Frances Rogers
Jean Frances Rogers, age 85 of Caledonia, died peacefully surrounded by family on April 4, 2023, in the North Queen Nursing Home. Daughter of the late George and Myrtle Clayton, she was born in the family home, in Parkers Cove, by a midwife, as the doctor could not get over the mountain, on January 7, 1938.
Jean married her wonderful husband, James “Jim” on September 6, 1958, and was a homemaker, who took the best care of her children and home. She loved her flower garden and enjoyed playing Bingo whenever she could, whether at the North Queens Fire Department, Lion’s Radio Bingo and even at the North Queens Nursing Home.
Jean is survived by son, John Rogers (Elizabeth), Digby; daughter, Faye Mailman (Kevin), Caledonia; grandchildren, Timothy, Courtney, Jamie, and Shannen; great-grandchildren that she loved dearly, Justine, Hailey, and Aurora; sisters, Christine, Beverly, Erna, and Lisa.
In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by loving husband, James “Jim”; son, Robert “Bobby” Rogers; and sister Norma Selig.
The family would like to thank the staff at North Queen’s Nursing Home for taking such great care of both our parents while they were there, both were treated as family.
A Graveside Service will take place at a later date in the Highland Cemetery, Hibernia. Memorial donations may be made to the North Queen’s Nursing Home – recreation department, as Jean loved all the activities.
