Obituary of Harold James MacKenzie

Harold James MacKenzie, age 58 of Canaan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 28, 2023, in the Valley Hospice, Kentville. He was the son of the late Harold and Dorothy (Gates) MacKenzie.

Harold made a living as a trucker, as well as a hard-working heavy equipment operator, but his passion was his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who was selfless and generous when helping those around him. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially at his happy place, his family cottage on Gaspereau Lake. When not at the cottage, Harold spent time with the ATV Club, where he made many valued friendships.

Harold is survived by his wife, Marietius “Joyce” MacKenzie; sons, Justin (Carrie) MacKenzie; Jordan (Steven) Planzer; grandchildren, Jade MacKenzie, Finn Planzer, and Ernan Planzer.

In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by sisters, Carol Anne and Darlene.

Cremation has taken place and a private memorial will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Valley Hospice.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
