Jackelin Marjorie Marshall May 29, 1933 - May 31, 2023

 

On May 31, 2023, Jackelin Marjorie Marshall of Kentville passed away at the Valley Hospice and went home to be with Jesus, her Lord and Saviour. She was born May 29, 1933, in Essequibo, Guyana, the daughter of Orlando and Agnes Newton-Reich. She is survived by her beloved children, Andrew (Gladys) of Dieppe, NB; Peter (Tracey) of Dartmouth, NS; Lois Marchand (Mike) of Brownsville, Texas; Ruthann McDow (Darren) of Los Angeles, California; and Valerie Smith, Hantsport, NS; and her grandchildren, Adelle, Noah, Aaron, Karli, Justin, Janelle, Quinn, and Cameron. Sisters, Philippa of Toronto, ON; Anjelique of Shelburne, ON; and Margaret Jeffery of Linden, Guyana.

In addition to her parents, Jackelin was predeceased by her sister, Vernie Jeffrey; her husband, Eustace; and her grandson, Van Der Saar Salomon.

Jackelin found deep fulfillment in supporting and working alongside her husband in churches they served in Guyana, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland. She also coordinated church clubs for boys and girls in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. She was a member of the Ethel Fenerty Womens Missionary Society at the Kentville Baptist Church.

Jackelin received her earlier education at the Church of Scotland School in Guyana. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked in the Wolfville Nursing Homes and with Pictou Home Health Care. She also worked in Palliative Care in Kentville and New Glasgow. During her career, she completed training as a Dental & Medical Assistant.

Jackelin was a loving and caring mother and was always there for her children and grandchildren. She provided loving care at home for her husband Eustace during his lengthy illness from 2003 until his death in 2022. She was also a prayer warrior who prayed daily for her family and friends. She was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitation. There will be a service to celebrate Jackelin’s life at Kentville Baptist Church on Monday, June 12th at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Dave Bielby officiating followed by a reception in the church gym. Interment will be at the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kentville NS. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
