Obituary of Phyllis Irene Duggan

Please share a memory of Phyllis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Phyllis Irene Duggan, age 89 of Kentville, passed away July 4th, 2023, at the Evergreen Home for Special Care in Kentville.  Born on July 17th, 1933, in Alliston, PEI, she was a daughter of the late John and Jessie (Mclean) Thompson.  Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 56 years Alan Francis and her sisters Jean, Verna, and brother Robert.  Phyllis was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Phyllis held many professions in her life in Halifax from salesclerk at Eaton's Department Store, real estate agent, and office administrator before moving to the Valley where she became property/office manager at Basin View Village (Wolfville Court Apartments) before retiring and then spending many years in PEI with her husband Alan.  They returned to Nova Scotia in 2004 due to Alan's failing health.  Phyllis was very much involved with the Kingsway Assembly and its 50s + group membership.  She was always a gracious hostess, loved music and reading, and her bubbly personality will be greatly missed.

Phyllis is survived by her son Lloyd Edward, daughter Lisa Bette (Ted) van Trigt granddaughters: Ashley Crowell and Emma Crowell (Chris Forrest), and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Home for Special Care, nurses, and doctors, for all their care of Phyllis during her final journey.

Family visitation will be held 12:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service to be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Kingsway Assembly, 242 Belcher Street, Kentville.  Pastor Terry Penny officiating.  Everyone is invited to a reception in the church hall following the service.  Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023, in the Peters Road Cemetery, Peters Road, PEI.  Family flowers only by request.  Donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's or Cancer Society of Nova Scotia. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
