Obituary of Adelbert Eugene Hazel
Sadly we announce the passing of Adelbert (Delbert) Eugene Hazel on August 4, 2023, of New Minas, at the age of 80, after battling a long-term illness.
Formerly of Sheffield Mills, Delbert was the son of the late Augustus and Mildred Hazel. He retired from the Department of Transportation after many years of service.
Delbert is survived by daughters, Brenda (Roch) Baron, Quebec; Donna (Howard) Hill, Coldbrook; and son, Michael Hazel, New Minas, who cared for him throughout his illness. He was the youngest of eight children, who will be missed by his sisters and brother, Betty Sheffield, Kentville; Allison "Bub" (Gladys) Hazel, Canning; Shirley Wood, New Minas; Audrey Ward, New Minas; Ruth Ettinger, New Minas; and Joan (Victor) Cox, Sheffield Mills; brother. Delbert will also be remembered by his three grandchildren, Donald Hill, Kyle Hill, and Janice Hill; as well as his great-grandchild, Owen.
In addition to his parent, Delbert was predeceased by his wife, Winnifred Viola Hazel, with whom he was married from 1961 until her passing in 2019; and brother, Malcolm.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no public Funeral Service as per Delbert’s wishes. A private Graveside Service may be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
