As one of Al’s smoking buddies from out in the hut. I fondly remember. Having many laughs with Al and sharing memories of his past we all could see how he loved Lorraine.
One fond memory was when he was first diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, as we were visiting in the hut he very calmly told us if we saw him wandering around and he couldn’t find his way back upstairs to point him in the right direction.
We hope he has found his way to serenity he will surely be missed a gentleman I will never forget

Deb: I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. This has to be one of the most beautiful and loving obituaries I have ever read. Through it, I feel like I actually knew him.
You have my prayers and heartfelt condolences.

Dad was the real deal. They say “never meet your hero”; well, I was lucky to have him as a father. He raised me and taught me many lessons. He was my hero and a great man. He is missed.

Al was , indeed, a gentleman and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He has passed those traits on to his loving family and will certainly live on in the memories of all who knew him. Our sincere condolences to all those who knew and loved him. Ed & Vi

In 1980, I spent 6 months or so in Toronto in residence while my wife sold our home in Winnipeg. I spent many weekends at Lorraine's and Al's home on Burlington. Great times. In Kate spring green peas were reasy for picking. I hate green peas. But I always helped picking them and getting bushels of these peas for the pot. Al loved them and teased me to no end preparing this feast that he loved.
He was a gentleman and a great man. HE WILL BE MISSED.

When I was living in Halifax in the Kat 90’s I was looking for a part time job - how excited was I to find Crabtree & Evelyn at MicMac Mall as I had worked at one at home (Kitchener) and how happy was I when Al and Lorraine hired me! Not only did they welcome me into the store - but also their family. Some of my most fond memories of the 2 years I lived in Halifax are from being made to feel like family by both Al and Lorraine (and Debbie too!). So sad to hear of his passing - will cherish my memories. My condolences to the entire family.
