Obituary of Wray Leslie Mumford

Please share a memory of Wray to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Wray Leslie Mumford, age 72 of Mount Uniacke, passed away on October 30, 2023, in his  home with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Charles and Norma Mumford.

Wray spent many of his early years working alongside his father and brothers in the woods. Later in life he assisted his wife Shirley delivering the local mail.

Throughout his life, Wray was very mechanically talented, and enjoyed fixing cars and machines to keep things running. When he was not fixing things, he could be found fishing in the lakes and brooks around Hants County; he always kept a fishing rod in the vehicle just in case the opportunity arose. Wray also enjoyed growing vegetables each year, just to see what would actually grow.

One of Wray’s  proudest moments was becoming a grandfather, he always kept up with whatever his grandchildren were doing. He was a friendly and kind man, who was always willing to help anyone in need. He relished a good conversation and was happy  spending time talking to friends, family, and strangers alike.

Wray will be remembered by his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley; his sons, Blaine (Jennifer), and Blair (Patricia); his daughter, Theresa (Gordon); as well as his five grandchildren, Conor, Lucas, Casey, Ryan, and Oliver.

In addition to his parents, Wray was predeceased by his brother, Glenn Mumford.

The family would like to send special thanks to Hants Community Hospital’s Palliative Care Team for their caring and compassion.

Cremation has taken place. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul’s United Church (PO Box 147, 293 Etter Rd., Mount Uniacke, B0N 1Z0). Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
