John "Jackie" Wayne Simms, age 76, of Digby, died peacefully at home on November 5, 2023, with family by his side.

Although Jackie was a carpenter for over 35 years, his main enjoyment was being around his family. When not with is family, he could be found hunting with Jimmy, his best friend for over 50 years. Jackie also loved spending time travelling with the love of his life, Donna,traveling around various parts of Canada and Cuba.

Jackie is lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna; step-son, Russell (Manda), Alberta; sisters, Alda (Hoppy) Cowen, Digby; and Debbie (Doug) Willimanson, California, US; mother-in-law, Joyce Comeau; sisters-in-law, Kim (Jay), Digby; Robyn (Robert), Digby; brother-in-law; Wade (Karen), Newfoundland; as well as may, may nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his mother, Mariam; brother, Roy; step-father, George; father-in-law, Herb; and sister-in-law, Bev.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Digby East Fish and Game Hall on June 30th, 2024 at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Lung Association.
