Obituary of Richard James Marshall

Richard “Rick” James Marshall, age 70, of Waterville, passed away on November 20, 2023 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on August 15, 1953 in Bury, Quebec, he was the son of the late James and Yvonne (Martin) Marshall.
Rick served in the Canadian Forces from 1973 to 1993, in various postings across Canada and in Golan Heights. After his military career, Rick worked for Berwick Home Hardware, Fraser’s Building Supplies, Grand View Manor and more recently Serenity Funeral Home.
Rick loved to be outside, especially fishing, traveling and four-wheeling with Phyillis, and spending time at their retirement home. Both Rick and Phyllis enjoyed a six week road-trip to Ontario and Quebec in 2023 to spend time with his family, they visited Niagra Falls, Toronto, and Montreal. When not outside, he could be found spending time in his workshop doing carpentry work.
“Everytime you seen Rick he had his best friend, Max, by his side. He was a real gentleman and will be truly missed.”
Rick will be remembered by his loving wife, Phyllis; son, Jamie (Elaine) of Ontario; brothers, Robert (Patricia) of Quebec, and Joseph of Quebec; sisters, Helen Walker of Ontario, and Johanne Mahler of Ontario; grandchildren, Robert Marshall and Brittany Marshall both of Ontario.
In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his son, Robert William Allan Marshall; sisters, Shirley, Sandy, Patricia, and Irene; and mother-in-law, Gwen Gordon.
Cremation has taken place and there wil be no serivce at this time. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
