Obituary of James Osborne Dexter

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James “Jim“ Osborne Dexter left this earthly plane December  3, 2023, to begin his next journey. Jim was born June 3, 1940, to the late Avis and James Dexter.

Jim spent his youth in Clyde River and in 1960 left to join the Canadian Armed Forces. He served in Halifax, Summerside, Ottawa, Red Deer, Yellowknife, and also in the Middle East on peace keeping duty. Upon retirement in 1989, Jim became a real estate agent with Royal LePage until full retirement in 2004.

Jim was a member of the Hartlen Point Forces Golf course for a number of years and learned to enjoy the game. He particularly enjoyed playing cards and Dominoes with his group of friends. He was also known as the man with the Tim Horton‘s dogs. Each morning he would take 4-5 dogs to Tim‘s and tie them up outside while he went in and had his morning coffee. He loved his dogs and cats and was always there to give them whatever they needed.

Jim is survived by his partner, Jeanie Boudreau; his children, Michelle (Mike), Gold River, British Columbia; and Heather (Dennis), Calgary, Alberta; brothers, Mike (Donna), Shelburne; and John (Sherry), Clyde River; sisters, Wanda (Bob), Jordan Falls; and Martha (Cal), Cole Harbour. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews with whom he enjoyed spending time. A special thank you to Jonathan for the beautiful letter you sent him.

In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his son James Wayde.

We would like to thank Windsor Elms Meadowview for the wonderful care they took of Jim during his last years.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial will be held in late Spring; and burial will in Clyde River during the Summer. Donations may be made to the SPCA or Hope for Wildlife in his memory.

Enjoy your next journey!

Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
