Obituary of Arnold William Pinch

Please share a memory of Arnold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Arnold William Pinch, 75, of Lockhartville, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2023, at the Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville. Born on August 2, 1948, he was a son of the late Florence and Gilbert Pinch of West Brooklyn.

Arnold was renowned for his abundant charm and quick wit, he was the constant source of smiles within his wide social circle. He had a loving heart and was a devoted caretaker to his partner, Bonnie, and many beloved dogs over the years: Smokey, Muffin, Benjie, Maggie, and most recently, his beloved Tippy. Strong-willed, with a stubborn streak, Arnold’s survivor mentality made him tougher than most; living through serious electrocution at 56 years of age and an aneurysm at 75. He loved hunting, gardening, following WWE wrestling, a well-cooked breakfast, and a strong cup of tea.

Over the years, Arnold’s work life focused mainly on roles in construction and agriculture. He was a painter and apple picker extraordinaire. He enjoyed his time working for ACA Poultry, Carey Brothers, TK Construction, D&M Lightfoot Farms, and Anderson’s Farm. On the job site, he had a reputation for his strong work ethic and an impossibly high standard of cleanliness.

“Arnold was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to many.”

Arnold is survived by his daughter, Michelle (Colin) Kelly, of New Minas, five granddaughters, Rachel Lightfoot, Kori Lightfoot, Ava Kelly, Lexi Kelly, and Norah Kelly; siblings, Debbie Best, Sue Pinch, and Garnet (Cathy) Pinch; and cherished lady-friend, Sylvia Myles.

In addition to his parents, Arnold was predeceased by his life partner of 25 years, Bronwen “Bonnie” Houghton; sister, Muriel Noseworthy; and brother-in-law, Leslie Best.

The family would like to thank Dr. Colin Burgoyne for his years of care and compassion to Arnold; and for always being his great friend.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 3:00 pm, in the Serenity Funeral Home, Coldbrook. Donations in memory may be made to the SPCA.
