Obituary of Arthur Fenwick Beaver

Please share a memory of Arthur to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with terrible sadness that we announce the passing of our much-loved friend and family member, Arthur Beaver on December 12, 2023.  Arthur (known to many as Art) was born in Halifax in 1955 to James and Effie Beaver.

Art will be remembered in past years for his sense of humour and lovely giving spirit.  The vast majority of Art’s career was spent negotiating and advocating for the rights of employees in Nova Scotia, an issue with which he was passionate.

Art is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara Beaver (Fehr); as well as his daughters, Vanessa and Cheryl; and his grandson, Austin Tanner.  Art is also survived by his brother-in-law, Richard Andrea; and sisters-in-law, Maureen Fehr, Karen Sheppard, and Susan Andrea, all of whom loved him dearly and are deeply feeling his loss.

Art was predeceased by his mother, Effie; father, James; brother, James; and sister, Gloria.

In healthier years, Art was an avid golfer and very much enjoyed golfing trips to New Hampshire to visit with aunts, uncles, and cousins.  In recent years Art came to love the sport of clay shooting at a number of ranges in Nova Scotia.  However, absolutely nothing in life gave Art more joy than his wonderful grandson Austin, of whom he is so proud.

Much appreciation to Lorna Blair, a very special friend to Arthur and Barbara; as well as the Palliative Care team at Nova Scotia Health (including those nurses who have retired - you know who you are).  Special thanks also to an angelic Nurse Practitioner who helped us navigate a very difficult time with a rapidly debilitating illness.

Cremation has taken place.  There will be no service at Arthur’s request. For those who wish to do so, memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics Nova Scotia; or Myeloma Canada in support of much-loved friends living with this disease.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
