Celebration of Life
Obituary of Brian Douglas Hudson
It is with broken hearts that we share the news of the sudden passing of Brian Douglas Hudson, age 67, of New Minas, on January 6, 2024. Brian was born on May 7, 1956, but his birth certificate stated May 9, 1956, so it was on that day that he celebrated his birthday. Brian was the son of the late Kenneth and Emma Hudson, of Port Wade, where he lived for many years.
Brian held many jobs over the years with the most notable being scallop fisherman, construction worker, and property maintenance until his retirement. He grew up near water and was always willing to share his knowledge of water, boats, and all things nautical. Not one to sit still, Brian could often be found helping others as he was handy and crafty.
Most recently Brian made charcuterie boards for many of his loved ones all with a personal touch for the intended person, it is safe to say we will treasure these forever. After a lot of begging and pleading, Santa brought Brian a harmonica and over the past year he put his talent into learning how to play, mastering many songs before his passing. Brian thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and spending time at his camp. He loved gold panning, metal detecting, rock hunting, and walking in the woods. Brian and his granddaughter Hayden had a mutual love of sharks and rocks, they would spend many hours out in the garage breaking apart rocks to see what treasure was held inside. He was also very good with rhymes and lyrics and enjoyed sharing them with family and friends.
Brian is survived by his love, Patti Wasson, with whom he shared 35 wonderful years together; sons, Christopher Hudson, of Kentville; and Kyle Wasson Hudson (Tasha Johnston), of Lockhartville; daughter, Charmaine Hudson (Brad Bent), of Coldbrook; granddaughter, Hayden Hudson, of Halifax; five brothers, Kenny, Bruce (Linda), Max (Lisa), Eddie (Connie), Ricky (Karen); four sisters, Mary (Ricky) Mailman, Bev (Jimmy) Stoddard, Sharon (Arthur) Lewis, and Carol Anderson; in-laws, Earl Wasson, Doreen Wasson, Jackie (Dale) West, Terry (Mark) Prins, Mike (Sheryl) Wasson, David (Sandra) Wasson; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Brian was predeceased by his beloved son, Nathan Hudson; sister-in-law, Vicki Hudson; and brother-in-law, Delma Anderson.
