Obituary of Joyce Rosalind Janet Grizzella MacInnis
Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we share with you the passing of Joyce MacInnis, age 89 of Hantsport (or “Mawsie” as she was known to all she cared for), on March 13, 2024. She now rests in the care of Serenity Funeral Home, www.serenityfuneralhome.ca, after her peaceful passing in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in St. Croix, she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Laura Watson.
“Surrounded by her loving family, we held our mother, our grandmother, our great-grandmother, our Mawsie. We laughed through our tears and listened to her one last time, she was the heart and soul of our family.”
Mawsie will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, her strength and courage, her unwavering love, and her chocolate bar drawer. She faced life’s challenges head on with grace and resilence. As an educational assistant, she found happiness being our “Mawsie” to other children.
“Rest in peace dear Mawsie, you will be deeply missed and your love will forever guide us.”
Joyce will be remembered by her children, Doug (Janice), Kathryn (Paul), Lori (Doug), and Brian (Fiona); grandchildren, Michael (Ashley), Nathan (Sarah), Philip (Rachel), Luke (Jen), Brad (Jess) Kristy, Brandon (Meghan), and Rieleigh (Kate); great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, Mackenzie, Madison, Ember, Gracie, Aida, Reta, Noah, Ainsley, Piper, Adrian, Aliyah, Wynter, Jackson, Mason, Harper, and Maci; and sisters-in-law, Marge Watson and Dodie Watson.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Keith; brothers, Norman, Herman, and Leslie; sisters, Annie and Nellie; and a daughter in infancy, Teresa Anne.
Special thanks to Jodi, Carolyn, and all of ambulatory care, as well as Dr. Tennecore, Sarah, Dr. Keough, Dr. Salazar, and the caring nurses at Valley Regional Hospital.
In keeping with Mawsie’s wishes, there will be no vistiation or serivce. A private interment will be held in the Riverbank Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Blood Services. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
“Anyway…”
