It’s with great sadness the family of Robert “Bobby” Sanford Huntley, age 86 of Scott’s Bay announce the peaceful passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather on Sunday, April 14, 2024, in the Valley Regional Hospital. Bobby worked as a carpenter for V.C Woodworth along with other construction teams to build the high rise – Dormitory at Acadia University. He also did numerous carpentry jobs through-out the community. Bobby partnered with his late brother-in-law, Claude Tupper, as a lobster fisherman until he retired and assisted the late Gary Steele with his sign business. he was a member and an honorary trustee of the Union Church of Scots Bay.

After a fire destroyed his brother’s garage in Scots Bay, Bobby was determined to establish a fire department in the community. A committee was formed and through much determination and dedication the Scots Bay Station #2 of the Canning Volunteer Fire Department was established. Thanks to Bobby the first fire truck was purchased for which he was later re-imbursed. He served as Captain for numerous years and was veteran of the Fire Department at the time of death.
