Obituary of Margo Ann McDow-McCleary

Margo Ann McDow-McCleary, age 65 of New Ross has passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Margo, daughter of the late Ida Swiminer and Maurice McDow will be best remembered for her happy disposition, her willingness to tackle any project with a smile and her love for her husband, family and friends.

Margo is very hard to sum up into one paragraph because she was everything to everyone.”

Margo spent 15 years in Toronto, ON getting her education at Ryerson and George Brown, after graduation she opened a professional photo lab and studio. But Margo was a woman who wore many hats she began flipping houses, then went on to open a charter fishing business and did many excursions from the bottom of the Georgian Bay all the way to Lake Superior.

With a desire to return to New Ross, Margo and her husband came up with the idea to open a Bed & Breakfast. Their idea became reality when Gold River Estate Country Inn opened its doors and received a 4.5 star rating. Margo was the heart and soul of the business.

Margo went back to school to take a course to become a health care worker and took care of many families with a warm heart and a friendly smile that her clients very much appreciated.

Margo stayed strong during her battle with cancer and was able to celebrate her 65  birthday and wed her partner, Donald of 46 years.

“Margo will be remembered and missed dearly by everyone who was fortunate enough to meet her.”

Margo is survived by her husband, Donald McCleary; brothers, Robert (Diane) McDow of New Ross; Larry (Joyce) McDow of New Ross; William McDow of New Ross and Darrin Swinamer of New Germany; and step-dad Cecil (Linda) Swinamer.

In addition to her parents Margo was predeceased by her sister Dorothy McDow and brother Dwayne McDow.

The family of Margo invites those who knew her to a service at 6:00pm in the New Ross Chapel followed by a small gathering at 183 New Russell Rd at the Gold River Estate Bed & Breakfast. They would also like to celebrate her life at the legion following the service where stories will be shared in her memory.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home New Ross Funeral Chapel, 4935 Hwy #12, New Ross, B0J 2M0 (902-689-2961).
