Timothy Tingley

Obituary of Timothy Thomas Tingley

Timothy Thomas Tingley, 61, of Deep Brook, Nova Scotia, passed away on May 31. 2024 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Tim was born in Burlington Ontario to Mary (Wilson) and the late Leonard Tingley on December 26, 1962.

He left school early and went to work to support his growing family while studying to get his GED. Later he furthered his education at NSCC in Middleton where he graduated from the plumbing program. Over his career Tim had multiple jobs, some including pizza delivery, DND, and finishing off as a maintenance foreman at ABCC (Annapolis Basin Conference Centre). He enjoyed some jobs more than others; a few favourites were working on the garbage truck, DND (kitchens and laundry), and for ABCC.

Tim had many names, Timmy, dad, grampy Tim, and uncle Tim. He was well loved by his family and friends. At home you could find him snacking on peanut M&M’s, or resting his eyes while watching TV/movies. Snores could be heard, though he was never napping. Tim would drive or fly to Ontario to visit with the family he didn’t get to see everyday, from birthdays to family reunions, he would be there with a smile on. He was a personal jungle gym and swim teacher for the kids. Vacations could be spent relaxing on a beach, on a cruise, camping, or going to an amusement park where roller coasters were at the top of his to-do list. Kayaking, fishing, walking, and swimming were summertime favourites. Christmas tree hunting was a tradition, he would take his children/grandchildren on a walk through the woods to find a special fir tree for his house and theirs.  Tim found entertainment in card playing, whether home playing cards with family or nights out with friends. He spent countless late nights playing Texas hold’em with his buddies or at the casino when given a chance. Sunday drives could be any day of the week.

Tim was a wonderful supportive family man and would do anything for them. He loved to joke. Tim was a great friend and was bestfriends with his wife. Tim was caring and his kindness was known by many. He was always willing to help out no matter what time of the day or night. He will truly be missed.

Tim is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 43 years Kimberley (Gumbley). Son Timothy Tingley, Daughter Amy (Tingley) Robinson, Mother Mary (Wilson) Tingley, Brothers Leonard Tingley (Monica Harding), Gary (Cheryl) Tingley, Step brother William “Billy” Hatfield, Step sister Geneva (Wayne) Taran, Grandchildren Winter, Stormy, Spencer, Georgia, and Mary, In-laws Inez (Larry) Irving, Brother-in-laws Darrel (Sheryn), Darren (Carla), John (Roxane), several nieces, great nieces/nephews. He is predeceased in death by his father, Leonard Tingley and step mother Leora (Kendrick).

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the Doctors, NP, Nurses, VON, and Palliative Care who looked after Tim in and out of the hospital and to Ben for the special meals. We appreciated all the thoughts and prayers, those who visited, and supported us in many ways throughout this difficult time.
