Charlene and all the Chute and Comeau families - we want to express our condolences and sadness at this loss. We have been praying and rooting for Gerry for quite a while and know this leaves a huge hole in your hearts and lives. Gerry was the driving force behind the Mersey Hockey League in Liverpool during the 80’s. His boundless energy created a recreational outlet for many of us. He really made a difference in the community and created some great memories. Condolences to Gerry’s family.

I was very sorry to hear of the loss of Gerry. I know he will be sadly missed by everybody who knew him. He had a way of keeping classmates happy and smiling even in grade 12 at D R H S. We also had fun at Harry's rink and Oakdene field,

This is a very sad ending when we know you both fought so hard. We have known the Chute family since I was little, when Phyllis and Jay used to come back home when we lived in Morganville .Gary and I and Gerry and Darlene used to play together. Condolences to Charlene, Darlene, Janice, Dede and Tony. May Gerry forever rest in peace.

My condolences to all of Gerry's family.
I have lots of memories of growing up in Bear River with Gerry. He was just across the river from me and being the same age put us in many of the same activities.
So sorry to hear of his passing.

I worked for Gerry back in the early 80's in Liverpool for a number of years. Gerry was a force to be reckoned with at work, but he instilled an amazing work ethic in me and had a HUGE heart. We had a little family at the time and we were green behind the ears but Gerry went out of his way to make sure out little family was always "ok". I had the utmost respect for this man. I loved EVERY single minute we worked together. He always had a nickname for us. For some reason, he called me "potlicker". He even had a name tag done up with this name on it.
I am so sorry for your family's great loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family
Rest in peace my friend.

I was so saddened to learn of Gerry's passing. I only knew him for a few short years, but he made a huge impression on me. Our shared passion for our favourite hockey team, the Montreal Canadiens, was so awesome....we joked that we would coach the Habs to their next Stanley Cup win, after I retire from the Post Office...was it really a joke? He recited poetry on many occasions when he visited the Post Office. I would say "Gerry, give me one more verse for the road" and he always obliged. He was the kindest, most honest person I have had the privilege to meet. Gerry, I hope you will continue your armchair coaching from the great beyond....or better yet - carry the pucks in the opponents' nets, so we can once more hoist the Cup at the Bell Centre. Rest easy, my dear friend.
Much love to the Chute and Comeau families as you navigate your grief.
