Obituary of Marilyn Elizabeth Handspiker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Elizabeth Handspiker, 82 of Digby. Marilyn passed away on June 20,2024 in Villa Acadienne, Meteghan, NS. Born in Mink Cove to Edmond and Doris (Stanton) McCullough.
 

“Marilyn was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. She put everyone ahead of herself.”

Marilyn worked for the National Sea in her earlier years but eventually found her niche working in the servery at Tide View Terrace in Digby. Upon her retirement she enjoyed the quiet life, going for drives, outings and lunches at the old Roadside Grill with a few special friends. Marilyn had a love for seafood, beaches and absolutley enjoyed feeding and watching over the beautiful birds who were always at her window.

Marilyn is survived by her sons Paul (Monette) and Peter (Marjorie); sisters Jackie (Curtis) and Lillian (John); granddaughter Shawna; grandson Anderson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her her son Perry; brothers Guy, Winston, Franklin and Stephen.

“Her stay at Villa Acadienne was brief, but she was well cared for during the entirety of that time. We are thankful she finally went to such a great facility, with kind, caring and nurturing staff.”

There will be no visitation or service as per Marilyn’s request. Marilyn will be placed to rest in eternal peace, with her eldest son Perry in Sandy Cove, at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
