Obituary of Cherie Lynn Jones

It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of our beloved Mother, and Grandmother Cherie Lynn Jones who passed away on June 24 th , 2024 at home in Beaver Bank, Nova Scotia, after a battle with COPD. Cherie was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 22, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Thelma (Rice) Jones.

Mom was a beautiful soul with a kind and giving heart. She loved and cherished her family and time spent together making memories. She could light up a room with her beauty, smile, and laughter. She loved animals, listening and singing along to music, visiting the ocean, and playing a competitive game of crib with her cherished friends. Mom loved gardening and had a green thumb. She enjoyed playing card games, a good puzzle, and an interesting read. She had a good sense of humor and was a fun-loving person.

Cherie graduated from Queen Elizabeth High School and completed some post-secondary training. Cherie then developed a passion for government policies when she started a career for the provincial and then federal government. She enjoyed her career, which also sparked her interest in independent writing.

Cherie is survived by her beloved daughter Veronica (Frank) (Bellefontaine), cherished stepdaughter Tracy (O’Connor), Grandchildren William and Emma (Bellefontaine) and Brandon and Brittany (Goodwin), her sisters Carol (Rook) and Ann (Jones), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Cherie was predeceased by her life partner Aurele “Luke” Gould, who she dearly missed.

Cherie will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. “Gone from our sight but never gone from our hearts”. In keeping with Mom’s wishes a private family service will be held in August. Donations in memory of Cherie can be made to a local animal shelter.
