I moved to PEI from Massachusetts in 1975 and lucky for me Ron was one of the first friends I made .We bonded over music and having a good time . We stayed in contact over all the years and I considered Ron family. Even know we hadn't seen each other in 30 years or so we texted and phone called each other . I loved Ron like a brother.
His passing left a hole .
I will miss him always
Sincere condolences to Joyce and the Huestis Family
Rest in peace until we meet again Brother !

We were very sad to hear the news of Ron’s passing. Ron was in our neighbourhood as he grew up on Victoria Road in Summerside. We played many road hockey games as kids. Ron was a great guy, always smiling and laughing. Fond memories of Taquila, one of the first bands Ron played in. Sincere condolences to Ron’s family. Taken way too young. Rest in Peace Ron.

I first met Ron when I recoded his band,Counting Zero, in Studio H.
What a band ,and what a guy.
Of course I worked with him again on a number of occasions...A GREAT MUSICIAN,AND A WONDEFUL PERSON.
And he was the 'go to' guy at Musicstop for keys,Protools,etc...always great to see him and deal with him.
As well, later on,we shared illness stories...unfortunately...sorry to see you go...play on Ron.
Margot and my thoughts are with you Joyce.

To Joyce..... my most sincere condolences! As well you know, Ron was a real champion of a guy!
I had the pleasure of getting to know Ron as I shuffled books in the print department of Musicstop/L&M for 13 years. We shared much laughter, and many stories of being pet parents over the years-- usually happy, but some sad! Since learning yesterday of Ron's passing, I re-read some of our email exchanges during the early months of Ron's diagnosis, and how impressed I was (and still am) of his fortitude and attitude as he faced his cancer challenge. And I've no doubt, that it was his love for you, his family and friends that buoyed him on.
To Ron's former fellow workmates..... my best and warmest hugs! Thanks, Andrew, for submitting such a lovely tribute to your friend; and to Sean-- I'm feeling your hug--right across the continent! How privileged we were to have had our lives touched by this lovely man!
My heart and best energies will be with you all--Joyce, family, and friends as you celebrate Ron's life on Sept.5th.

To Ron’s Family,
I was deeply saddened to hear of Ron’s passing. I was one of those “clients that he formed a wonderful and beautiful relationship with”. I would always look forward to heading to the music store to chat with Ron. He always greeted me with a big smile and always had time for me whether I was there to buy something or just see what was new. I loved our chats about music and the local music scene and he was always sincerely interested in hearing about what I was doing. My biggest regret is that I never got a chance to hear him play live, something I know he loved.
Mostly he was a good guy and he will be missed.
My sincerest condolences.

Ron was one of the most genuinely nice guys I have ever met in my life. We worked together for many years at Long & McQuade in Halifax, and it would be no shock to anyone when I say that Ron was an encyclopedic source of knowledge for the community of musicians in, and around the Halifax area. What was always more impressive to me though than his sheer breadth of knowledge, was his ability to enthusiastically relate to anyone. He found joy in learning from others, and he would love to pick your brain about new sounds and techniques in the same way that we all relied on him for. From a parent in for their first keyboard for their kid to the high end businessperson, or the seasoned pro visiting to the punk rocker in the cutoff jean vest, pink mohawk and nose ring…they all got the same kind, patient and enthusiastic Ron. Really, it’s a testament to his character that transcended all aspects of his life, he was just a good soul who cared about helping others find their passion and realize their dreams and potential. I remember how shook we all were when we learned of Ron’s cancer diagnoses, and we wondered how to approach interacting with a guy who had just received such a terrible diagnosis at the time. Ron must have sensed this, and his answer was dark, self-depricating humour that had you laughing, even if ya wanted to cry. I hope he did it for himself, but I certainly know he did it for us and that selflessness, even through struggle was one of the things that made him so special. Ron promised for years that a few of us would get together, see his studio and watch a Leafs game, but his periodic health concerns coupled with Covid-19 ensured this sadly never happened. When I received the phone call to let me know Ron had passed the morning after, my first inclination was to go to my phone and read the last text exchange we’d shared, sadly it had been deleted having been automatically removed after 30 days only the day before. I do remember the content though, it was me telling him to take care of himself and not land in the hospital again, asking him when we were gonna have that studio meetup, and him deflecting it all and asking how my kids were. That was Ron. Love ya, Ronnie.

I had the great pleasure to attend Three Oaks High School in Summerside with Ron. I will always remember his wonderful winning smile, what a kind person he was and that he was a cool musician! I got to speak with him again many years later at Long and McQuade when I visited the store to see my nephew Andrew who Ron worked with. Andrew always spoke very highly of Ron as a musician and coworker. Ron was a wonderful person and reading all the kind words written about him here…..he will clearly be missed by many. He was certainly one of the good guys. My condolences to his family and friends on your great loss.
