Ruth Mackinnon

Obituary of Ruth Elizabeth Mackinnon

MacKinnon, Ruth E., 75 passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024 at Northwood Manor, Halifax, NS.

Ruth, also known as Ruthie, was born and raised in Caledonia, NS., the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Nina (Freeman) Conrad.

Ruth was known for her soft spoken nature, and her kindness knew no bounds. A devoted mother and wife, she dedicated her life to her family, her support

unwavering. Ruth knew a patience and a kindness that has been carried down to her granddaughters, lessons that they will carry with them forever.

Ruth could be found at the rink, playing music for figure skating. Or making crafts and cross-stitches. Her baking and Christmas dinners were made with a mother's heart. Her kindness extended to her community as well, where she was known for her charitable work for the figure skating club. Becoming ill in 1989, she never allowed her illness to over shadow her love for her family. Her strength was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Alan, her daughters Nicole and Tina and her granddaughters whom she loved with her whole heart, Abby

and Jillian.

Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her sister Jean Fancy and her brother Ivan Conrad.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Serenity Funeral Home, Coldbrook, NS. Following the wishes of Ruth and her husband Alan, a graveside funeral service will be held when husband and wife can be placed to rest as a couple. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
