Gonna Miss you Coach we had some good times over the many years, As you became very close to our family the day you and Brenda pulled into Berwick, John would tell everyone i was the son he never had and i really appreciated that. We all really appreciated his commitment to hockey and golf as he was always the leader. RIP Johnny Charest.

I've known John and his wife for many years.
It saddens me that John and his bear will no longer be at the park listening to music and dancing with the bear , or at times with Amanda.

So very sorry to hear this. John was a customer of mine for 31 years now. Such a sweet sweet man & I will always remember him. I looked forward to seeing him every summer & the chance meetings at Walmart or the big stop. Thank you for all the chocolate bars you gave me every time you seen me. RIP John.

Very saddened to hear of Johnny's passing. He was a regular at our Wed night jam. Can't recall an evening that he didn't have his stuffed Teddy bear with him.
He loved to dance and flirt with the ladies
His favorite saying was "to all the ladies, I just want to be your Teddy Bear"
It was very difficult for Johnny to have his wife move to Evergreen Home. He loved caring for her but in reality, it was getting very difficult.
I don't believe he missed too many days visiting her even when his own health started to fail. You'll be missed my friend. ❤️❤️❤️

Bruce met John playing games of "shinny" in the Berwick arena. Through the Windermere Music Jams, we had the pleasure of really getting to know him and his wife, Brenda. They both enjoyed this social evening of music. John even gained enough confidence to leave his seat and come up to the mic to sing. He was always very attentive to Brenda and many evenings they would enjoy a dance or two. John was generous in buying 50/50 tickets, and always wanted to donate his half back when he won. Thanks to friend, Sheilah Wiles, they rarely missed a Tuesday night. It was sad to see John's abilities declining especially after Brenda required the fulltime care of a nursing home. John faithfully visited her; always with coffee & donuts in hand for the staff. John knew he could call on us if ever in need, but he was determined to live independantly, and, for the most part, he did. As most know, John took much joy from dancing with his oversized stuffed animals at the Jams. As the song written for him, by Addisson Locke, explains "IT" was more than just a stuffed animal. "IT" gave him comfort, support and a sense of security. Timing is everything, and John not only got to hear HIS song, but to sing it along with Addison, as well. John was a most interesting and talented man and immediately fell in love with Berwick, NS and the Valley after just driving through. We are blessed that he retired here. John lived a full life. He was a devoted husband and kind friend to many, which made it easier to cope with his "stubborn streak"; noone's perfect. But it is time now for him to Rest in his well deserved Peace.
