Obituary of Frank Stevens
It is with great sadness, and deep appreciation for his life that we announce the passing of Franklin “Frank” Delancey Stevens on October 11, 2024. Born in Kentville on July 13, 1955, Frank was the son of the late George and Frances (Brewster) Stevens.
Frank was a hardworking man, spending 50 plus years working in the farming industry for Arthur and Michael Woolaver at Basinview Farms, the Hillaton plant and The Fuller Family Farm. Anyone who knew Frank would tell you that he was kind-hearted, he would do anything for anyone. Frank was a long-time member of Branch #006 Kentville Legion and was proud to have had 40 years as a member. He often worked security with the Legion and was the Executive Chairman for the Sick and Visiting. The Legion truly was an extension of Frank’s family. Frank was also a devote member of the Pereau Baptist Church.
Above all, Frank was a family man, he relished in the time he spent with them. His wife, Caroline was the love of his life, and they lived happily in their home making many memories for over 30 years.
“He was a happy man, always smiling (unless you pissed him off) he would do anything to make anyone smile or laugh,” As Caroline will tell you.
Frank is survived by his loving wife and bestfriend, Caroline (Blood); daughters, Rachael Barry of Kentville and Lisa Beveridge of Waterville; son, Billy Barry of Middleton; step-son, Rob Harrison of Alberta; brothers, Bill Stevens of Kingsport, Malcolm Stevens of Truro, Maynard Stevens of New Minas, and Ralph Stevens of Kentville; sisters, Noreen (Larry) Goucher of Cambridge, Ruth (Chris) Dominey of Coldbrook, Carol (Kip) Foster of New Minas, and Connie (Tom) May of New Brunswick; grandchildren, Chelsey States-Sangster, Brandon Sangster, Justin Barry, Jacob Barry, Nadia Barry, Chelsea Beveridge and Noah Beveridge; step grand-children, Samantha Janiver and William Janiver; and great grandchild, Toby.
In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his daughter, Jackie States-Duncan; brother, John Stevens; and sisters, Mary Stevens and Florence Stevens; mother-in-laws, Doris (Took) Blood and Anna Blood; and dear friend, Sheila Morton
Frank’s family would like to give thanks to Dave and Diane Fuller and their family as well as the nurses in the ICU unit at the Valley Regional Hospital for the kindness and compassion Frank received while in their care.
Arthur and Michael of Basinview Farms has stated that “Frank was the farm, we aren’t sure what we will do without him, Frank was more than an employee, he was family” It’s clear to see that Frank meant so much to so many and will be missed dearly.
Caroline would like to extend a special thank you to Michael and Scott Woolaver (of Basinview Farms), for their efforts and giving her a chance to say “I Love You” to her husband one last time.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 2:00 pm in Branch #006 Kentville Legion, 37 River St, Kentville, NS, B4N1G8. Interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Kentville Legion or Pereau Baptist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
