Obituary of Debra Marie Parsons
Debbie Marie Parsons, 66, of Mount Uniacke, passed away unexpectedly surrounded by her loved ones at home on November 10th, 2024.
Known for her joyful smile and happy personality, Debbie worked for many years at Superstore/No Frills in Spryfield, with countless co-workers who turned into lifelong friends, including her BFF Donna Stokes. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing bingo or just having a coffee and a good chat. She was always willing to lend an ear to anyone that needed it; although, you would get her blunt and honest opinion back in return. She was always truthful, caring, kind and just a little bit stubborn at times.
Debbie spent the last 34 years of her life married to her husband, David. They married in 1995, in Halifax. Over the last 34 years, the two have shared countless memories, anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, losses, and wins. Their marriage was the definition of a true love story and proof that hard work and commitment pays off at the end of the day.
Debbie is predeceased by her parents; Gordon and Marie (MacDonald) Strickland, in-laws; Vella and Richard Parsons, sister; Anne Strickland, sister-in-law Martha Taylor, brother; Mark Strickland, brothers-in-law Robert Tarrant and Stephen Taylor, nieces; Maggie Jamieson and Jazmyn. We know they are all celebrating her arrival together as we say our goodbyes.
Debbie is survived by, and will be extremely missed by her husband, David Parsons, and three children; Donnie Cross, Susie Cross (Thomas) and Jessica Parsons (Josh). She also leaves to mourn several siblings, Joan Strickland, John Strickland, Gordie Strickland, Steve Strickland, Scotty Strickland, Pete Green, in-laws; Sadie Tarrant-Hickey, Wanda Julian (Artie), Joey Parsons, Bobby Parsons, Dawn Colbon, Eddie Parsons (Trina), and Brian Favell; along with several nieces and nephews who will miss her immensely. Debbie had five grandchildren, whom she always made feel loved; Chelsy Naugler, Breanna Cross (Nathan), Donald Cross, Summer Jennings (Kylor) and Kristopher Parsons; and, she was especially proud to be called “Gigi” or “GGMA” by her seven great-grandchildren. She will be missed the most by her 3 fur babies, Luke, Sally & Lilly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Saint Michael Church, 14 St. Michael’s Ave on Friday at 1pm with reception to follow at Emmanuel church hall, 322 Herring Cove Road.
