


Obituary of Lester George Baker
Lester George Baker, 81 passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, in the Mahone Bay Nursing Home where he received great care. Born on November 21,1943 in New Ross, Lester was the son of the late George and Pauline (Ward) (Baker) Seffern. In his final days, he was surrounded by love and comfort, with family by his side.
Lester is survived by his longtime partner, Cheryl Scott; sisters Patsy Male (Hamilton, Ont) and Sheila Bailey (Youngs Cove); Brother, Darrell Baker (New Ross); Sons Steven Baker (Denise) of New Ross, Darin Baker (Granddaughters, Natalie and Jillian) of New Ross and Daughter Lori Ann (Jason) Farris (Grandchildren, Lily and Seth) of Timberlea, NS; step-children Linda Scott, Dale Scott, Ann Marie Chalifoux, Cathy Baldwin and Duane Scott and many special nieces and nephews.
Lester was predeceased by his mother, Pauline Seffern; stepfather, Francis Seffern; father, George Baker; brother Donald Baker and daughter in law, Danielle Baker.
Lester was known by many for his exceptional mechanical abilities. He was well respected in his community and was the go-to person for problem solving, all things. There was not one thing he could not fix and if it couldn’t be bought, he could build it. If there was a problem, he knew the solution. Lester was committed to sports and coached local recreational ball teams and hockey. He had a passion for CFL football and music, with a special appreciation and love for Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong, Big Bands, and many more.
Lester’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and doctors at South Shore Regional Hospital during his stay. A special appreciation is extended to the staff of the Mahone Bay Nursing Home for their excellent care and compassion during Lester’s final days.
Cremation has taken place. A Visitation will take place on Friday, June 20, 2025 between 6:30-8:30 pm at the New Ross Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life, followed by Interment, will take place Saturday June 21, 2025 at 2:00pm in the New Ross Christ Anglican Church, New Ross. Following the Service there will be a Reception in the New Ross Legion. Donations in memory may be made to Christ Anglican Church, New Ross, Alzheimer’s Society Nova Scotia or another charity of one’s choice.
