BENT, (Hurlburt) Jane - 76, of Wolfville, died February 2, 2011, in Blomidon Court Nursing Home, Greenwich. Raised on a farm in Tunnel, N.Y., she was active in 4H, winning trips to Chicago and to Finland as an International Farm Youth Exchange participant. She received a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics Education from State Teachers College, Oneonta, N.Y. After moving to Canada she taught in schools in the Annapolis Valley area and freely shared her talents in cooking and sewing with community groups. She was involved in various community activities; canoeing Out, International Christmas and Pioneer Camp under the auspices of the Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship, Kingswood Camp of the Eastern Valley Baptist Association, Meals on Wheels, the Flower Cart sheltered workshop and Seaview Abbyfield. She was the creator and first owner of Annandale Guest House for seniors. She is survived by Forrest, her husband of 53 years; her sons, Garth (Laurie), Graeme (Cecile) and Darryl (Holly); her daughter Erika; grandchildren, Emily, Emma and Paul; as well as by five sisters; seven brothers; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Catherine and Ivan Hurlburt; and by three brothers; and one sister. Cremation has taken place. By family request there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Port Williams United Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. David Ogilvie on February 26 at 2 p.m., followed by a reception in the church hall. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer?¢s Society of Nova Scotia, Port Williams United Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
