Dear Betty and Family,
It is with heavy hearts and great sorry that we learn of the passing of your wonderful husband Dave. Whenever he came to the Railway Museum in Lunenburg, he would always have a good yarn with the boys and was so patient with you Betty when you needed to spend time with me to get a special piece porcupine quill jewlery made.
We treasure our last visit this summer with him and will always remember him as a kind, friendly man who had such a passion for trains as he did with other things in life. We will truly miss him. On behalf of the Railway Museum and all our volunteers, we would like to express our deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Sheila and I were saddened to hear of the sudden and unexpected of Dave. I have fond memories of the comradeship of flying with Dave at Greenwood in the late 60chr(39)s/early 70chr(39)s. Dave was always plesant and always had time for a few words of memory whenever we met. Your loss is also Berwicks loss as he will be missed by those organixations he was involved in. May you go on in the fact that Dave cared and made a difference in the community. Betty, our prayers and thoughts are with you and the girls at this time. Sara Jane also wishes to pass on her condolences especially to Rachel and yourself.

To Betty and family, thank you for sharing Dave with us, our prayers are with you in this time of sorrow.
Dave was a great friend and we fellow model railroaders, enjoyed his humor and company at Peteââ?‰?¢s Bun and Run on Thursdays. If you had to pick one word for Dave, it would be Diplomacy, never a bad word about anyone, upbeat and very knowledgeable in all subjects.
RIP Dave as you join Casey for the last run.

I knew Dave from my time in 507 Air Cadets (or Capt Thompson as I knew him in Cadets. Dave was one of the first officers I really met because he worked as the supply Officer. He was always happy and smiling which really showed how much he loved his time at 507. Ask almost anyone who was in 507 during his time there and they will tell you that he was their favorite officer. I know he was my favorite, and I have nothing but fond memories of him that I will remember for the rest of my life. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the service this weekend, but I pass my condolences along to Davechr(39)s family and friends.
Dave was a great man, and will always be remembered by those who knew him.

To Aunt Betty, Cousins Beth, Rachel & Laura, and Uncle Davechr(39)s family:
I was shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Uncle Dave. I believe the last time I saw him was when we were in England in 1977, but since that time, I enjoyed receiving many e-mailchr(39)s from him. When Uncle Dave began using Facebook, he often shared his kind thoughts and funny comments about whatever was going on in my world at the time. He will forever be in our hearts ... a new star is shining brightly in the night sky to watch over all of us.

It isnchr(39)t very often a person makes an impact as Dave has done. We will always remember the nice evening we spent with Dave and Betty at the Valley Lodge wives night supper just a few days ago.

We have known Dave and Betty for over 40 years and began with us babysitting one New Yearchr(39)s Eve when they lived on Maple Avenue in Aylesford. Dave flew and worked with my late father-in-law Des Richmond and was a member of the Aylesford Fire Department with him as well. I got to know Dave better when I became a Mason and learned to appreciate his insight on many matters. He was always a wealth of good information as it relates to Masonry and I found him to be a person you could count on for advice. His thoughtfulness towards others as well as his wit and humour will never be forgotten. Well done good and faithful servant.
Sincerely

It is with a heavy heart that we send this, Dave was a good friend, and an avid motorcyclist. He was instrumental in bringing the motorcycle training program to the valley, there are many people out there riding today because, Dave would have been their instructor on the course. Dave always had a kind word for everyone, Dave also had the ability to put his thoughts out in a very precise manner when needed. Nothing prepares one for this type of chr(39)sorrowchr(39) and again it is with a heavy heart that we send our empathy to his family. May you find strength in this difficult time to know that Dave, brother, friend, husband, has touched many many lives....he will never be forgotten. We, the motorcyclist family, now have another guardian angel protecting us, as we ride. We will miss you Dave.

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear about Davechr(39)s passing last week. To say that he has touched my life would be an understatement. I met Dave when I started with the Air Cadets. I learned here that he was always thoughtful, calm and had a great sense of humour. Ichr(39)ll never forget the manner and respect he treated me with during my last days with 507. Later I had the opportunity to take my Motorcycle course with Dave instructing. He certainly knew his stuff and was a great teacher. Finally my wife and I had the honour of having Dave as the officiant at our wedding three years ago. His advice, jokes and jovial nature made the ceremony perfect.
You can be sure that although Dave will be missed he will live on in the memories of those he has touched. I feel very special to have known him.

David preformed our wedding ceremony this year on September 11, 2010 and what a pleasure to have him make our day special. We found him to be one of the most sweetest and thoughtful guys we have met here in the valley and his little bit of humor during the ceremony made it go off without a problem.
So sorry for the family you have lost someone very dear, and we are blessed to have had him for our special day

We knew of Dave through the motorcycling community. Being a member of the Apple Valley Riders at one time, we both found Dave fun to be around and to work with.
I, Lisa, even became a Motorcycle Training Program Instructor and worked side by side with Dave (and Brian Porter) for a few years. It was felt that we had a wonderful team with all of the patience in the world for those students who came our way. Those students who had the pleasure of having Dave as a MTP Instructor rarely forgot anything he had to say as he was wise when it came to motorcycling.
To the family of the late Dave Thompson, we are so sorry to hear of your sudden loss. We in the motorcycling community have lost a Brother, and we grieve along with you. We are all here if you need anything, so donchr(39)t hesitate to ask. Find comfort in the wonderful memories you have of and with him, as we will also.
Sincerely,
Lisa & Donald Parks

As a former cadet & biathlete, Dave (Captain Thompson as I know him better as) ushered me into the Air Cadet Movement, and gave me a starting point at 507 FL McLean Squadron. Captain Thompson always offered a patient & guiding hand towards any of youth he coached or anyone who knew him. I remember Dave telling me modest flying stories and urging me to follow my dreams. Captain Thompson and Captain Doug Earle were the two people who pushed me farthest into my future flying career, and for believing in me, I can not thank them enough. Dave has touched the lives of many, young and old and will be missed by all. My sincerest condolences to the family, a true gem.
