Leschied, Karl Edward - 80 of Coldbrook, Kings County passed away on Monday, July 23, 2012 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Whitemouth, Manitoba, he was the son of the late William & Anna (Zink) Leschied. Affectionately known as "Poppy", "Dad", "Carl", and "My Love". Karl liked "living on the edge" because he always said " that's where God operates". In all his business dealings Karl looked to the Lord for direction. As a young man, Karl, worked on his father's farm, and in woods operations. At the age of 30 he moved to Newfoundland with his wife, "Juney Girl", and first son, Marcus, to work with the Shantymen's Christian Association (a ministry to men in the woods camps). Karl also owned and operated two businesses, Lewisporte Refrigeration and Arcticooler Industries. Karl and June raised their six children in Lewisporte, Newfoundland. In 2005 Karl and June moved to Coldbrook, Nova Scotia. Surviving are his wife, Lorna June (Travis), Coldbrook; sons Marcus, Calgary, Alberta, Stephen (Mandy), Cambridge, Jonathan (Jacqueline), Enfield, and Michael, Vancouver, British Columbia; daughters Heather (John) Lohr, Canning and Jennifer (Christian) Gloade, North Carolina; grandchildren, Justin Lohr, Aaron Lohr, Caleb Lohr, Ben Lohr, Jonah Leschied, Jane Leschied, Kelsey Gloade, Allison Gloade, Molly Gloade and Jacob Leschied; sisters Elsie (Harry) Toews, Mary (Paul) Brady and brothers Ted (Helen), Bill, Ernest (Mary) and Justus. He was predeseased by his sister, Jean Makarchuk and grandson, Jared Lohr. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, July 26 in the Coldbrook Baptist Church followed by refreshments and visitation with the family at the church. Interment will take place at the Cambridge Cemetry at 5:00 pm that day. Wayne Merrill will be officiating.
