I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Effie "Queen Mom" she certainly was a wonderful lady. We had many laughs together during my reign as Queen Annapolisa and she became a great friend. Her involvement in her variety of activities was extensive and she loved every minute of it. Visits to the cottage, the house and a variety of gatherings was always a pleasure. Thinking of you and your family. Take care.

John and Effie were such a big part of the Kenny family. The Kenny kids called them aunt and uncle and thought of them as family. Dad and I enjoyed our visits with Effie at the Elms and she was always happy to see us. Because of the Scots, my growing up with them in my life was that much more special. Love to Ester and David.

There are people who leave their impression on a childâs memory. Years ago the Apple Blossom Festival was so full of pageantry and elegance that it was surreal to a little girl. A fairy tale that came true right before your eyes. Of course, one of the main events was the train arriving at Grand Pre National Park on Sunday afternoon with Queen Annapolisa, the Princesses, her ladies in waiting and her RCMP escort in their bright red tunics and shiny boots. The only thing on a little girlâs mind that Sunday was getting down across the pasture to meet the train to see the âRoyal Partyâ disembark from the train and that long walk up to the stage in front of the Church. There was always the lady, with beautiful blond hair, fluffing crinolines, re-tying bonnets, blotting noses and foreheads in the sun, straitening the Princessâ fur stoles, making sure the page boys had a firm hold on our âQueenâsâ robe as she was escorted to the stage, and that all rules of etiquette were followed. It wasnât until I was a teenager that I learned just who this blond hair lady was. Miss. Effie Scott. For years I admired her grace and sophistication from afar. As this gracious lady is laid to rest may her family know that she touched many lives in little ways.

May I add my most heartfelt sympathy to Esther and Effie's Family upon the loss of such a great woman and soul. As town crier for several Annapolis Valley Communities as well as the Apple Blossom Festival, I can honestly say that Effie was such a driving force for the Festival and her contribution toward the betterment of the Annapolis Valley. She had such a wonderful sense of humour and the number of pleasant conversations and laughs we shared is beyond count. As a friend and one who appreciated her wisdom and contribution to my life, I will sadly miss such a wonderful lady. OYEZ! Effie. Your crier and friend, Lloyd

Thinking of Ester & family at this sad time...We will all miss her at the Elms, but it makes me smile to know she's back with her husband John who she talked about on a regular basis and always said she couldn't wait to get "home" to see him. Effie was one of a kind...I'll miss her.
