Obituary of Effie Beatrice Scott

Scott, Effie Beatrice (Lockhart) – age 91 years of Hantsport, passed away peacefully at the Windsor Elms Village on April 4, 2013. Born on March 18, 1922 in Avonport; she was the daughter of the late David and Lillian (Hughes) Lockhart. Left with fond and loving memories are her daughter Esther Pollard (David) of Hantsport; sister Mae Stevens of Hantsport; also by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years John A. Scott; infant daughter Julie Nadine; brothers Otto, Gladwin, David, Will and Stewart; sisters Mildred, Grace, Ella, Lillian, Hester, Edna and Jenny. For many years she was pageant director of the Annapolis Valley Apple Blossom Festival and was affectionately known as the “Queen Mother”. She sang in the St. James United Church choir for 50 years; she was also a past member of the Helping Hands Rebekha Lodge in Hantsport, Hantsport Memorial Community Center, Kenwo Golf & Country Club, Avon Valley Golf & Country Club and Windsor Curling Club. A very special Thank You to all the staff at the Windsor Elms Village, especially in Meadowview 3 for all the love and care given to mom during the past 3 ½ years. Interment for both Effie and her husband John will take place at a later date at the Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport. Donations in memory of Effie, made to the Alzheimer’s Society of N.S (112-2717 Gladstone Street, Halifax, NS B3K 0A4) would be appreciated by her family.
