To Marion's family; My deepest condolences for the great loss in your lives today and always. Marion lived with my grandmother, Liza Nafthal, when I was a child going to school. At times, those years were difficult and Marion was always very kind to me. I loved her. She helped me with homework whenever I ask, and as an adult, I realize I should have asked more often. She was always there for me and never said 'no'. Some of my best memories with Marion was the time she took it upon herself, along with my grandmother, to teach me how to knit. I can still see that red sweater! The project went on for several years , although, eventually it was complete and I took great pride in wearing it. Years later, in my fifties, a childhood friend, who hear I was living an hour away from her on Vancouver Island, reconnected with me. We picked up our friendship where it left off and just recently she mentioned my 'red sweater'! I was able to pass my knitting skills on to one of my daughters who loves the craft to this day. And so, I believe, Marian's life lives on in the people who's hearts she touch. These people were able to pass on Marian's teachings to the ones they love. With deepest sympathy; Sharon

Miss Carty was my grade 8 science teacher. I will never forget the day she had me read my explanation of how a refrigerator works to the class. She told me I had done an excellent job! Oh the things we remember! I always enjoyed speaking with her years later at MRHS reunions. Please accept my sincere condolences on her passing. May she rest in peace.

Dear Reynolds, Maureen, Carrie and family: Marion was a plain and humble lady who kept ice cream containers full of cookies in her freezer for the kids in the community and me. A simple country school teacher who saw the good in every one and every thing. She devoted her life to helping others and asked for nothing in return. The stain glass window you put in our little church honours her life and contribution to her community. Marion has gone home to the Kingdom and I know she couldn't be happier. Good bye my old friend. I'm sorry I can't make it tomorrow but Curtis has gone fishin' this weekend and somebody has to watch the farm. My love to you all and with the fondest of memories of fun times gone by. Sonya

Miss Carty was my science teacher from grade seven to nine. I was a bit mischevious in those days so for a period of time I had a special place to put my desk, at the far back corner with the stuffed animals. She always cared enough to keep us in line and force us to learn knowing it was best for us. Very lucky to have had such a teacher. Used to enjoy bumping into her in Kentville, on occassion, when I lived and worked there. Reading her obituary, makes one understand how God's love was shining through. The end of a long and wondeful life. The start of a new one.
