In Loving Memory: Robinson, Barbara Anne (nee Bown) It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara, who at age 71 years of Kingston, NS passed away at the Valley Regional Hospital on January 7, 2014.
Born in Calgary, AB on May 29, 1942; she was the daughter of the late Grace Elizabeth (Papworth) and John Charles Quinton Bown.
Educated in Calgary, Edmonton, AB and Winnipeg, MB where she trained as an R.N. at St. Boniface General Hospital School of Nursing; from which she graduated in 1963.
After raising her family, of four children, Barbara worked as an R.N. at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Middleton, NS until her retirement in 2000.
She was predeceased by her mother, father, and identical twin sister Beverly Sheppard.
She is survived by her daughters Cori (Lee) Collins of Dunrobin, ON, Heather Robinson Dooreleyers of Kingston, ON, Katherine (Mark) Wilcox of Louisville, Colorado; son Keith (Donna) Robinson of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; also by her seven granddaughters and her nephew Kevin (Petroula) Finn of Scarborough, ON and niece Nadine (Imbae) Ahn of Toronto, ON.
Barbara was active in the Kingston United Church, Mid-Valley Palliative Care Service, the VON PEP program, and the Red Cross.
She received the International Red Cross Florence Nightingale Award in 1987 for her work in Palliative Care in the community.
In keeping with Barbaras wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Barbara may be given to the Mid-Valley Palliative Care Service or the Kingston United Church.
