Please share a memory of CROSBIE to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
CROSBIE, Martha Louise (Harlow), RN - 82 - passed suddenly at her home in Wolfville, NS on Sunday, September 27, 2015. Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Jack Crosbie, daughter Susan Louise, her parents, Dr. Walter Elton and Hortense Louise (Troop) Harlow, and only sibling, Daniel Logan Harlow (Natalie). Left with fond and loving memories are her children, Steve (Betty Haley); Sheila (Mark Kennedy) and Brian, and her ‘two perfect grandchildren’; Jacob and Claire Pratt, as well as many dear friends and family across Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and beyond. Born in Bridgetown, NS, Martha was a graduate of the Victoria General School of Nursing (’55). With vision, leadership and boatloads of passion, she worked tirelessly to support her community. Martha’s significant contributions in the areas of healthcare, education, the arts, heritage, and politics were recognized in 2008 when she was awarded both, the Rotary Club’s Paul Harris Fellowship and The Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award. Always quick with a laugh, and strong with an opinion, Martha had a terrific zest for life, and embodied a wonderful spirit of dedicated selflessness. Her fun and infectious nature attracted many life-long friends, all of whom would have experienced the warmth of her renowned hand-written letters. She was truly a class act, full of grace and wit, and will be deeply missed by us all. Cremation of Martha and her beloved ‘Onyx’ has taken place. A date for the celebration of her life will be announced in late Spring. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to very special friends for their kindness and support: Sue and Nelly Garvie, Judy Sin, Ralph Warr, Roy and Violet Batstone, Tena and Carl Larsen, Gail and Garth Gordon and Cathy Haley. Donations in Martha’s memory can be made to Crosbie House Society http:/www.crosbiehousesociety.com - 866-681-0613, or to The Red Door Youth Health and Support Centre, Kentville – 902-679-1411. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Lindsay Annapolis Valley Funeral Home & Chapels (Coldbrook) (902-679-2822).
