I only heard of this sad event at our high school reunion this past weekend in Halifax
Clyde’s sister was there and she told me
I grew up with Clyde in The early years of school
He was a dear friend back then
Later in Ontario we met up again at Sears and had several lunches together and enjoyed talking about the past
I lost track of Clyde when he moved east again
I remember him as funny quick witted and a good friend and an easy quick smile and a true gentleman
This happened much too early
So sorry for your loss and I felt compelled to write rather than not even after a bit of time has passed

So many of Clyde's good friends from SLH were saddened to hear of Clyde's passing. He was a terrific guy, quick-witted and charming. We were all recipients of his many pranks and one-liners. We also saw his big-hearted good nature. Family always came first for Clyde and our hearts go out to Chris, Nick and Tommy, as well as their wives. Rest in peace.

Blanche and I want to express our sincere condolences to Chris, Nick and Tommy. Clyde was a wonderful co-worker but more importantly a great friend. He leaves behind an entourage of friends with whom he shared a multitude of laughs and good times together. Too young and undeserving for this to happen to a truly great guy. RIP my friend.

We are so sorry that Clyde has passed away. From the moment we met him, he has been a kind and loving presence in our family and a wonderful, and treasured 'Gramps' to our granddaughter, Natalie, as well as the best father-in-law a girl could want, to our daughter, Shannon.
It is especially heartbreaking that Natalie has lost her beloved grandfather at such a young age. Clyde was a 'Man's man'; a take charge, get it done, kind of guy and that is only one of the things we admired about him. The list is too long to write in such a small space. We will always miss him as we know everyone who knew and loved him will.
Sincerely,
Hunter & Helen Shaw

Chris and Family, Our hearts are broken and your loss is shared by all. Clyde was a wonderful man and a great neighbour.
Our son Nicholas would often watch out the window waiting for an opportunity to join or just have a chat with Clyde on one of his many walks. Nicholas loved Clyde as if he was his own grandfather.
Forever missed and always remembered

Dear Chris and family. I was so saddened today to hear from a ex-co worker of mine of Clydes passing. I had the pleasure of doing Clydes travel arrangements when he was at SLH. I couldn't have asked for a more patient and lovely client. He always had a smile on his face and we loved to joke with him whenever he was in the branch. I started booking Clyde at Brooks Travel and he followed me when I opened the Matitime Travel office in Bayers rd shog cte. He then followed us when we moved to the Joe Howe superstore and when I eventually finished my career in sunnyside. I love the pic on his obituary. It captures his spirit to a T. I can't express just how sorry for your loss. May god have another plan for him or a hockey game to play. Sending my deepest love. .... Linda Coolen. ( now Rice)

Clyde was the type of teammate and friend that one could only wish for. He was the "ultimate" catcher in his day - big and strong, unafraid to block the toughest pitches and fiercely supportive of his teammates. At the same time, Clyde had a fabulous sense of humour - which came in handy a few seasons with Dartmouth senior ball when we got our butts kicked more than once or twice.
Unfortunately for me, our paths crossed only a few times since our baseball years. And when they did, he'd proudly update me on his wonderful family - it was always his top priority.
Clyde will be sadly missed by everyone who ever "laced them up" with him - or even against him. He was an incredible man.

Clyde was quite a man.....and he started young. When i would have been maybe 4 years old....he would have been 13 or so and he would come call for David so they could walk to school together. As he waited for David, he would show Brian and i the pictures in his textbooks. That kindness and gentleness was something he has always had. My "other" brother!! Love you. Love to Chrissy and the boys. I am sure there is a big hole in everyones hearts!!

Sweet Tommy, it is hard to imagine losing your father at such a young age (both his and yours). I am sure that he was very proud of all your accomplishments. You have become a fine actor, an astute businessman, a loving husband and a truly good person. No parent could ask for more. May you and your family be comforted by each other's presence at this particularly difficult time of year.
