Please share a memory of Gerald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
GEDDES, Gerald Reid (89) of Old Barns, Nova Scotia, passed away on August 4, 2017 at the Colchester County Hospital, Truro, Nova Scotia. Gerald was born on December 24, 1927, the son of Alexander (Sandy) Geddes, and Etta Mae Logan, in Old Barns. Gerry was a "Boy Soldier" during the Second World War (1945-46). He signed up when he was 17, much to his mother's dismay, but with her permission, nonetheless. He met and married Effie Langille of River John, N.S. in his early twenties, moved to Brantford, Ontario where he worked as a millwright and raised his children. A true Nova Scotian, he yearned to move back someday, which he did in 1982. Gerry had many interests, mostly mechanical in nature (Willys Jeep), enjoyed ship modelling and loved to laugh and tell jokes. He will be missed for his good nature, sense of humour and kind, gentle ways. Gerald is survived by his son, Brian Geddes (Debbie and daughter, Paige Gigg) of Brantford, his daughter Karen McGeoch (Steve) of Old Barns, his sister, Lorraine Ross of Dartmouth, and brother, Robert Geddes of Hilden. He was predeceased by his parents, Sandy and Etta, his wife, Effie, his brothers, Ralph Geddes of Bible Hill, Ronald Geddes of Lower Onslow, Eldridge Geddes of Bible Hill, and sister Frances Martin of Brantford, Ontario. There will be no funeral service or visitation. Interment will be held at the Old Barns Anglican Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Gerald's name to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Diabetes Association, or the Truro, N.S. Humane Society. Gerald's family would like to thank Dr. Deanna Field, the kind doctors (Alexis and Smith) and nurses and health care staff at the Colchester County Hospital. Their devotion and care was second to none. Thank you. Personal condolences may be made at: www.serenitylindsayfuneralhome.ca . .
