To the Denton family ..... I first remember Jeanette when she was a Girl Guide Commissioner for those of us in White Rock, who were the "Lone Guides", and a
kind of "sub-branch" of the Wolfville Girl Guides --- and then more recently in life when Jeanette was a resident at Wickwire Place where I was the Program Director at that time. Always polite, gracious and friendly, you could count on Jeanette for sound advice, congenial conversation and solid facts. She was indeed a pillar of the Community and will be remembered fondly. You can rightfully be as proud of Jeanette as she was proud of all of you! My sincere sympathy to the entire Denton family!

My thoughts are with you all and most especially Janet. My memories of your Mom when I was a little girl are among my most favorite. Climbing the willow tree in your back yard on Chestnut Ave., and your Mom coming out and saying Kimberly you are a very good climber but, it's time to come down now. I remember how much she loved Ginger and talked to her. When the Denton cat had kittens, I was infatuated with them and after much pleading, it was your Mom that said to my parents, "it will be a travesty if you do not allow Kim to have one of those kittens." The next day I got Susie from the Denton's. When Janet and I put on plays in the Denton Garage and invited all the people on Chestnut Ave., it was Mrs. Denton that championed us. I really loved my best friend's Mom and really missed you all when we moved. I missed seeing Nancy getting dressed up for her dates and her singing and Peggy's enviable red hair and conversations at the dinner table with her Dad and Richard's compassion for animals (I remember when he had the bird in the basement recuperating) and Mrs. Denton would say to me, "you can go down to see the bird but, only if it's o.k. with Richard." It was scary to ask Richard if I could go see the bird (he didn't let many people near the bird), but, he did let me sometimes and it was really amazing. A great Matriarch to a wonderful family.
Deepest regards and fondest memories,
Kim MacDonald

Dear family of Jeanette:
I want to extend my heartfelt sympathy on the loss of Jeanette. There wasn't another person who followed Acadia basketball like she did over so many years.
She will be missed by your whole family.
Warm regards,
Winnie

Dear Nancy and Family,
So sorry to learn of your Mum's passing. I have such fond memories of her as we were growing up. I have no doubt she is already organizing a Girl Guide camp and singing all of our favourite songs. May you find confort knowing that many will miss her and remember her smile and kindness. She was a Lady BP in my eyes.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Trish (How) MacDonald

I'm sorry for your loss. Mrs Denton was such a nice lady. I once interviewed her for a history class assignment, about her memories of being an Acadia student around 1940, and heard some charming anecdotes that I haven't forgotten--which I've passed on to my own students. I know you'll miss her a lot, Janet, as you were very close. Best wishes,
Mark.
