Obituary of Raymond Elliott Blackburn

Raymond Elliott Blackburn, 95 of Berwick passed away November 1, 2017 in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in Avondale, he was the son of the late Lewis and Abagail (Ward) Blackburn. Raymond worked for many years with the NSPC until his retirement. He was a veteran serving overseas in England, Belgium, Holland, Germany and France (where he was wounded). He was a member of the South Alberta Regiment as a tank driver. He was an avid vegetable gardener, enjoyed square dancing, and always looked forward to a great game of cards, especially bridge. A love and longing for travel, Raymond and June were known to go south towards warmer weather, they became snowbirds to friends and family when the weather got cool in Nova Scotia. Raymond is survived by his son; Eugene (Wanda) of White's Corner, Black Rock; Jane (Don) Pearson of Napanee, ON; grandchildren Lynda (Colleen) Blackburn and Kelsey Pearson. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, June (Best) Blackburn; son Lewis; brothers Ralph and Leonard; sisters Dorothy Carson, Millie Blackburn and Roselie Stewart; grandchild Brian Blackburn. A Funeral Service will be held on November 5, 2017 at 4:00 pm in the Black Rock Baptist Church, Black Rock. Family Flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Black Rock Baptist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Berwick Funeral Chapel, 192 Commercial Street Berwick (902-538-9900).
