Kathleen Dorothy Meister Dakin RN born July 2, 1918 peacefully passed away in Mahone Bay Nursing Home May 2, just two months shy of her 100th birthday.

Her quick wit and sense of adventure was evident from a young age. Kay graduated in 1941 from the Nursing School at the Children’s Hospital. She spent most of her nursing career at the Kentville Sanatorium excelling in her chosen career and retired as Director of Nursing.

She is survived by her daughter Judi Thompson (Bedford), sons Aubrey (Marianne) Bridgewater, Kenneth (Terry) North Battleford Sask., grandchildren, Heather, Kenneth, Todd, Derek, Nicole, Kerri and Melanie and eight great grandchildren, sister Bernice Hiltz, New Ross.

Beside her parents Burdette (Gates) and Lincoln Meister she was predeceased by her husband Porter, son-in-law Keith Thompson, grandsons Shawn and Blayne.  brothers: Murray, Goodwin, Clifford, Fred, Cedric, Charles, and Otis, sisters: Annie, Jean, Marguerite, Edna, and Leitha.

A Celebration of Kay’s Life will be held on May 26, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the New Ross Baptist Church. A time of fellowship to follow at the New Ross Legion. In honor of her life, memorial donations may be made to the SHAID Animal Shelter, Bridgewater. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home New Ross Funeral Chapel, 4935 Hwy #12, New Ross, B0J 2M0 (902-689-2961).
