Obituary of Eliza Ellen Bishop

Please share a memory of Eliza to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Eliza Ellen Bishop, 93 of Berwick, NS formerly of Squamish, BC  passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital. Born in New Aberdeen, Cape Breton, NS, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Catherine (McNeil) Bishop.

At the age of two her family moved to a coal branch in Mountain Park, Alberta where she was raised and met her husband of 66 years, Lorne. Together they moved their family of nine children and three nieces, who they took in at a young age, to many places including, Edmonton, AB, Yellowknife, NWT, Merkle, AB, Edson, AB, Grand Prairie, AB, Dawson Creek, BC, Williams Lake, BC and Squamish, BC before moving to Berwick, NS. Eliza was so excited to move back to Nova Scotia to see the land where she had been born.

She was a devoted wife who stood by her husband Lorne, through the good times and the bad.  She lived her life for her children and family, all of her waking moments were spent concerning herself with them. She also opened her home and her heart for family, friends and strangers alike. In her younger years if she could find the time she loved to bowl and joined a league for a bit. Her unconditional love and support gave many the foundation to navigate life.

She will be forever missed, but never forgotten.

The family extends a sincere thank you to the Victorian Order of Nurses and Careforce Home Healthcare for their compassion and dedication.

Eliza is survived by her sons Lyle Bishop, New Westminster, BC; Frank Bishop, Windsor; Richard (Cathy) Bishop, Vernon, BC; Ryan (Michelle) Bishop, Port Coquitlam, BC; Norman (Myrnaflor) Bishop, Dawson Creek, BC; Dan (Christy) Bishop, Berwick; daughters Lorna Bishop, Squamish, BC; Arlene (Ken Zawitkoski) Bishop, Fort McMurray, AB; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
